Biography:

Michael Daab graduated cum laude from Columbia University, Columbia College in 1994. Thereafter, he attended Hofstra University School of Law, and received his Juris Doctor degree in May, 1997. While at Hofstra, he was a staff editor of the Labor Law Journal, a member of the International Moot Court Team, and a student representative for Hofstra’s Unemployment Action Center where he represented and guided clients through the unemployment insurance appeals process.

He became licensed to practice law in the Courts of New York State in February, 1998, at which time he embarked upon his career in the private sector. Since his admission to the New York State Bar, he has practiced almost exclusively in the fields of matrimonial and family law. He was an associate with the Law Offices of Alexander Potruch, PC for several years before becoming a partner atPotruch& Daab, LLC in 2004. He thereafter joined Gassman Baiamonte Betts, P.C. in 2010 where he continues to be a member of one of the most reputable matrimonial firms on Long Island.

During his years of practice, he has litigated matrimonial and family law cases involving complex equitable distribution, child custody, and support issues from inception to settlement, or through trial. He has also established himself as an experienced and successful appellate practitioner. Some of his notable decisions include, Mtr. of Arndt v. Arndt, 100 A.D.3d 879, 954 N.Y.S.2d 196 (2d. Dept., 2012)(Upholding sole custody award);  Mtr. of Fletcher v. Fletcher, 29 A.D.3d 908, 815 N.Y.S.2d 269 (2d Dept., 2006)(Granting grandparent visitation rights); Frankel v. Frankel, 2 N.Y.3d 601, 814N.E.2d37 (2004)(involving counsel fee awards); Glucksman v. Glucksman, 264 A.D.2d 812, 695 N.Y.S.2d 135 (2d Dept., 1999)(regarding divorce agreement interpretation); Regan v. Regan, 254 A.D.2d 402, 678 N.Y.S.2d 673 (2d Dept., 1998)(involving child support/college education expenses).

Mr. Daab is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section, where he also serves as the 10th Judicial District Representative. He has lectured on behalf of the NYS Bar Association on matters of discovery and ethics. He has been a meeting presenter on various matrimonial and family law topics for the New York Family Law American Inn of Court where he is also a barrister member. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association. 

In addition to his litigation skills, Mr. Daab has been trained in mediation, and in collaborative law.

Mr. Daab grew up in Queens, New York, and currently resides in Garden City, New York with his wife and three children.
