Byron C. Chou practices exclusively in matrimonial and family law, bringing a unique blend of litigation acumen and deep forensic/financial expertise to his clients' matters. He represents high-net-worth individuals in complex matters involving equitable distribution and asset valuation; negotiates prenuptial, postnuptial, and separation agreements; and litigates high-stakes matrimonial, child custody and support disputes.
Prior to joining Gassman Baiamonte Gruner, Mr. Chou built a distinguished career in forensic accounting and business valuation at KLG Business Valuators and Forensic Accountants. There, he advised hundreds of clients, attorneys, and judges in both contested and mediated divorces — as well as in personal injury and estate matters — by conducting financial/forensic audits, projecting asset values, valuing publicly and closely held businesses and interests, and evaluating executive compensation packages. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Kenneth Wang Memorial Scholarship.
Mr. Chou spent his youth between Taipei, Taiwan and Syosset, New York and currently resides in Huntington, New York. Because of his diversified upbringing, Mr. Chou is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, an invaluable resource in the effective representation of his clients from Long Island and throughout the New York metro region.
A respected leader in the New York metropolitan legal community, including Nassau and Suffolk County, Mr. Chou serves on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association and has previously chaired both its New Lawyers Committee and LGBTQ Committee. He is the Vice Chair of the Asian American Attorney Section (and organizes the Annual Chinese Lunar New Year and Diwali celebrations), a Board Member of the Theodore Roosevelt American Inns of Court, and in 2023 was appointed to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Asian Leaders Advisory Council. Mr. Chou is frequently invited by Judges, bar associations, and civic organizations to lecture on topics ranging from matrimonial law to artificial intelligence. His professional achievements have earned him numerous honors, including recognition as a New York Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” the Nassau County Bar Association President’s Award, and the Nassau County Comptroller’s Achievement Award and other acknowledgements from the Town of North Hempstead and Town of Huntington.
