Biography:
Timothy M. Tippins has engaged in family law practice for more than 25 years, with special emphasis on complex equitable distribution and contested custody litigation. He has served the profession in several capacities, as President of the New York Chapter of the Academy, Chair of the New York State Bar Association Task Force on Family Law, and Chair of the NYSBA Family Law Section. He is the author of New York Matrimonial Law and Practice, a multi-volume treatise published by West Group, and has served on the faculty of Albany Law School since 1987. Mr. Tippins has lectured widely at the state and national level, for such organizations as the American Bar Association, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New York State Bar Association, and the NYS Office of Court Administration's Judicial School. As President of MatLaw Systems Corp., Mr. Tippins oversees new product development, CLE Curriculum, and strategic operations of the company.

Mr. Tippins is especially known for his experience in connection with complex equitable distribution issues and the presentation of mental health testimony that is often decisive in contested custody disputes. He has lectured widely to attorneys, judges and mental health professionals on the latter subject, including presentations for the New York State Psychological Association and at a full-day Interdisciplinary Institute for legal professionals and forensic psychologists which was co-sponsored by NYSPA and MatLaw Systems Corp., a company headed by Mr. Tippins.
