Biography: Steven Kommor is a 1988 graduate of Hofstra University and a 1991 graduate of New York Law School. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Kommor served as president of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Captain of the Hofstra Ice Hockey Team. During his senior year, Mr. Kommor was selected as an All Star player in the Metropolitan Ice Hockey League. While in Law School, Mr. Kommor served as the President of the Moot Court Board and received a tuition scholarship in this capacity. Mr. Kommor competed in numerous national moot court competitions and was bestowed the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in appellate advocacy. In addition, Mr. Kommor received several school awards including: the National Moot Court Award, Robert F. Wagner Labor Law Award and Award for Excellence in Moot Court. After his graduation from law school, Mr. Kommor served as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. As a prosecutor, Mr. Kommor conducted numerous trials and argued extensively before the New York State Appellate Division. In addition, Mr. Kommor served as a prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit where he investigated and prosecuted family offense cases. At the conclusion of his tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Kommor entered into private practice. Since that time, Mr. Kommor has concentrated in the areas of Matrimonial Law, Family Law, Appellate Advocacy and Trial Advocacy. Mr. Kommor has acquired significant experience in the handling of complex matrimonial cases involving issues of child custody, support, equitable distribution, and asset evaluation. Mr. Kommor joined the firm in an of counsel capacity on March 24, 2008.
