Cheryl Y. Mallis is a 1978 graduate of Adelphi University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. Thereafter she attended a program at Johns Hopkins Hospital and received her license in Cytotechnology. Until 1999, she owned and operated CAMCO Button in the garment center in New York City.

Ms. Mallis received her J.D. from St. Johns School of Law in June 2002, where she graduated with honors. While at law school, she was a staff member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and received two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards; one in Contracts and the other in Basic Federal Income Tax. During her time at law school, Ms. Mallis also worked at the Elder Law clinic at St. Johns, where she assisted in preparing a brief on Predatory Lending and abuses against the elderly for the Eastern District of New York.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mallis was an intern for Honorable Elaine Jackson Stack, Justice of the Supreme Court, Nassau County, Matrimonial Part, and Honorable F. Dana Winslow (Sup. Ct., Nassau Co.). Since being admitted to the Bar in January 2003, Ms. Mallis has practiced exclusively in matrimonial and family law, having been an associate for Mary Ann Aiello, P.C. and for Tabat, Cohen and Blum. In 2006, Ms. Mallis became an associate of Stephen Gassman. She has assisted in the preparation and trial of complex equitable distribution, support, and child custody issues and has appellate advocacy experience involving issues of temporary support, enforcing agreements and prenuptial agreements.

Ms. Mallis is a member of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and the Matrimonial and Family Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, and contributes to the monthly updates.
